Business Development Manager

A blended role across two specialist agencies within the Captivate GroupCommunicator (social creative agency) and Stir PR are looking for a Business Development Manager who will champion the agencies, can hunt down new clients and help to shape the content to entice them.

 

This role is predominantly a rainmaker role, for someone who loves to hustle, who loves the sell and who is adept at developing relationships with a wide variety of potential clients. There is also a strong emphasis on contributing meaningfully to the development of agency content and strong writing skills are a requirement.

 

This role would suit someone who is looking for a 2nd/3rd agency role in business development. Degree not a mandatory requirement and an entrepreneurial spirit would be an advantage.

PIPELINE & PROSPECTING (70%):
  • Responsible for ensuring our prospective new clients (inbound and outbound) understand the value of CL/SPR and understand the agencies propositions.

  • Build and maintain strategic opportunity pipeline in line with commercial growth targets.

  • Ensure proactive targeting of prospective clients and evolve gold list with Managing Directors.

  • Execute a relevant and timely contact strategy for all prospects on agency database, using materials and thought leadership produced by agency.

  • A focus on driving consideration by developing relationships with prospective clients in order to unlock the right new growth opportunities.

 

CONTENT DEVELOPMENT (20%):
  • Drive the creation of agency content – thought leadership, events series, spokespeople editorial, social campaigns – in collaboration with agency senior team and line with the overarching Growth Plan.

  • Manage and update the owned digital channels for each agency with relevant content across website, blog, social etc. in collaboration with agency leadership and according to the agreed content calendar.

  • Work with all agency departments to understand skills, new work & projects, new developments and new ideas that can help to unlock new opportunities.

 

INTELLIGENCE (10%):
  • A natural interest and appetite for the industry - passion - constantly on the look for nuggets that they can use for business development. Monitor industry & business media to identify new opportunities.

  • You are first and foremost a relationship builder - You are adept at building and nurturing strong relationships

  • You are confident and able to tell the agency story (work, clients, people) effectively across own channels and through written and AV. You are able to join the dots between strategy and content and able to suggest new content.

  • You have keen attention to detail. You ensure that any external communications are relevant, well written and in line with the agency proposition. You are a good writer.

  • You have a dynamic personality able to effectively engage and influence a variety of audiences across both internally and externally.

  • You are comfortable in approaching and talking to people you don’t know. You can read and work a (virtual) room.

  • You are a champion for the agency, both internally and externally and have a clear understanding of the agency vision, skills and capabilities.

  • You work well as part of an agency team, You are proactive and flexible in your ways of working and celebrate success.
